 The artist is deeply saddened to report the loss of her best friend of the last 15 years. 'Nazca Peru' - a 14/16 Timber Wolf, was humanely put to sleep on February 7, 2003, and passed away quietly in her 'mother's' arms. She was a very special friend and dear to all who knew her, as well as being the inspiration for several of the artist's paintings. She will be sorely missed. Sincerest thanks to all her Vets and Pharmacists. (Nazca was diabetic for the last 2 1/3 yrs of her life.)

- H.D. Mitchell won first place in the American Morgan Horse Association's Morgan art contest with "Eli" in harness.
- The artist also won two awards for her photography in the AMHA's equine photography contest in the senior/professional category.
